I often accompanied my father and John on painting trips to Ojai and Meiners Oaks, where John lived. Occasionally, these trips turned into overnight weekend stays. While my father and John immersed themselves in their art, I spent my days building dams in Matilija Creek and catching pollywogs. John painted me here this time wearing my red pedal pushers and matching red shirt from Sears & Roebuck.
